SHAG isn't one of them. To be honest I like the Gladiator, I really do. It's exactly what Jeep needed after the hype from the unlimited wore off and offers the Jeep fun plus some pickup perks. The price though just feels obscene and they got a bit too up their own skirts about how popular they are and what they could reasonably fetch cost wise.

I like the Gladiator. I bit long, but I’m sure it’d be a fun vehicle. I still haven’t seen any on the road here.

Well, they’re offering leases assuming 90% residuals after 2 years, so you can always grab a crazy-cheap lease and laugh at them later if they’re wrong.
I’ve never leased (never even owned new) but it’s tempting.

The Gladiator is shaping up to be one of those vehicles that everyone loves despite saying that technically speaking it isn’t the best. C&D ranked it 3 of 4 in a midsize pickup comparison while also saying it was everyone’s favorite truck to drive. I’m really considering one but waiting for the dealer markups to stop. I was looking at hardtops but after watching Hoovie video taking his off I’m actually considering a soft top - cheaper too!

So, really, there isn’t much reason to wait. Order what you want if you can afford it (I can’t, but holding out hope for a cheap lease).

These will easily be commanding stupid inflated pricing for the first 4 years at least. Hell even Rubicon unlimited's were selling new close to 50k years after the unlimiteds announcement year.

I think the issue is rich people buying the first ones as toys. Tons of Wranglers on the roads (and off) here in northern NM but I’ve only seen one Gladiator. Yet the dealer near me seems to be moving them - so all I can figure is they are going to people who aren’t dailying them.

Dang 90% residual lease is tempting... but I plan to destroy it... like throw my mountain bike in the bed and see how far down the Forest Service double tracks I can make it before switching to the bike. I can afford to pay cash now if it is invoice... but I do live in BFE (closest new car dealer or any sort is Chevy/Buick 35 minutes away, closest Jeep is 1 hour). Getting to one of these dealers that is negotiating is a major drive for me. Hopefully soon! Someone in town just bought a JLU hardtop in that teal “Bikini” color... if there was a Gladiator in that color in stock somewhere at invoice I might e changing my mind about the drive...

My plan, should I ever buy a new Wrangler or Gladiator, is to take Amtrak from Indy to Koon’s in Virginia, and use the trip back to do the recommended engine break-in. 500 miles of varying speeds if I recall correctly.
Bikini is such a great color. I just about got whiplash the first time I saw it at a dealership.
